Singleplayer games have an inherent flaw that has existed since they first came about, once you’ve beaten the game… that’s it, there’s no more. Bioware has taken a fierce approach to expanding the universe of Mass Effect through a series of DLC packs (“Overlord,” “Kasumi – Stolen Memory,” and “Lair of the Shadow Broker”) that continue to keep fans excited almost a year after the second game’s release.
With the release of Mass Effect 2 for PS3 just around the corner, it was a safe bet that Bioware would release some form of DLC shortly afterward, luckily they made an announcement through Cerberus Daily News earlier today outlining their plan to do just that,
The Cerberus Daily News will begin a hiatus on January 24th, finishing its run of one full year. Daily postings will cease except for three weeks in 2011: a week of posts will precede a downloadable content release, and two more weeks will lead up to the release of Mass Effect 3.
The CDN team thanks fans for their attention, comments, and feedback, (both in and out of character!). We are sorry to go, but we had fun ““- we hope you did, too!
Mass Effect 3 is due to ship in the 2011 Holiday Season, and what better way to get people geared up for its release than by scheduling a DLC pack to draw them back into the fold.
