Silent Hill is taking another stab at theaters this October.

The first Silent Hill movie–released in 2006–is generally considered one of the better video game to film adaptations.  Now, Coming-Soon.net has revealed that Silent Hill:  Revelation 3D is coming to U.S. theaters on October 26.

Revelation doesn’t seem to be a direct sequel to the 2006 film, despite starring many of the same actors.  Heather and Harry Mason (characters from the game, I think?) are played by Adelaide Clemens and Sean Bean, respectively.  The Masons are on the run for unknown reasons and presumably end up in the town of Silent Hill, where Harry Mason goes missing.  Deborah Karah Unger (who?) and Radha Mitchell’s characters will be returning from the first film, which is strange since Sean Bean (who was also in the first movie) is playing a different role in Revelation.  Other stars include Malcolm McDowell and Carrie Anne-Moss from The MatrixSilent Hill:  Revelation 3D is being distributed by Open Road Films.

-Nick’s take:  I actually sort-of enjoyed the first Silent Hill movie, despite not being a big fan of the games.  Plus, Revelation does star Sean Bean, so it can’t be too bad, right?  Then again, it does include “3D” in the title…
