Hopefully, 007 Legends can live up to Bond's gaming legacy.

Dry martini.  Shaken, not stirred.

Sorry, I had to.  Activision today announced a new James Bond game–titled 007 Legends–that will be releasing on the Xbox 360 and PS3 this fall.  Developed by Eurocom–who made the latest Goldeneye 007 game–007 Legends will feature “an original, overarching storyline tying together six classic Bond movies” that will conclude with this November’s latest 007 movie, Skyfall, according to the press release.  007 Legends will feature vehicles in addition to classic Bond weapons and gadgets, four player split-screen multiplayer, and the ability to play as classic Bond villains in  Mi6 Ops Missions.

-Nick’s take:  I love me some Bond movies, but the games based upon them have been wildly erratic in terms of quality.  The original Goldeneye 007 on N64 was clearly the best, but the most recent Goldeneye 007 Reloaded game (with or without the “Reloaded” title) is also supposed to be pretty good.  Since Eurocom is the same developer that made Goldeneye 007 Reloaded, 007 Legends has a legitimate shot at being a really good game.  Let’s just hope that 007 Legends is more dry martini and less Heineken.
